ESPN Global has announced the launch of a recently developed online gaming platform built with the use of blockchain technology, which will allow users to deposit and withdraw using bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

According to an announcement ESPN Global published, the E-Sports Programming Network’s gaming environment will allow users to compete with each other in various games and in various tournaments, where they will be able to make money.

The platform will have premium membership subscriptions for users who wish to get priority access to slots and the most sought-after games. It’s currently under pre-launch and does not yet accept bitcoin deposits or withdrawals.

The announcement details ESPN Global has been using the CryptoPay platform to enable its payment system to use cryptoassets. Chris Parker, one of the Directors of ESPN Global, was quoted as saying:

As per a research done by 3EA Limited, a global strategic management consulting group, e-sports and online gaming is a $140 billion global industry driven predominantly by digital micro-transaction economies, which we believe will benefit immensely from the integrity and resilience of the Blockchain technology

The firm is also integrating its recently launched Satoshi’s Treasure game, which includes a $1 million treasure hunt. The funds in it are divided into 1,000 fragments. To further develop more blockchain-based games, ESPN Global noted that it plans to launch an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) of its Smart Gaming Token (SGT), an ERC-20 token.

Once the firm’s blockchain-based gaming platform goes live, SGT tokens will be airdropped to registered players. Each SGT token is going to be airdropped at a $0.001 valuation.
